چکیده

Rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in stifle is one most common causes hind-limb lameness middle-aged and old dogs. The treatment choice involves surgical extra- or intra-capsular stabilization knee joint, increasingly preferred tibial osteotomy techniques. Postoperative rehabilitation affected limb an equally important part treatment. paper describes three cases rupture dogs methods physiotherapeutic applied to them. techniques passive active exercises were used along with massage physical therapy, such as magnetotherapy, ultrasound, electrotherapy, laser therapy. development correct plan, selection techniques, duration therapy crucial for its effectiveness. It has been shown that a positive effect on tissue healing process. also shortens time needed restore full mobility limb, both during non-complicated process event problematic cases.

Degenerative changes of the cranial cruciate ligament harvested from dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture

Degenerative cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture is characterized histologically by degenerating extracellular matrix (ECM) and chondroid metaplasia. Here, we describe the progression of chondroid metaplasia and the changes in the expression of ECM components in canine CCL rupture (CCLR). CCLs from 26 stifle joints with CCLR (CCLR group) and normal CCLs from 12 young beagles (control group)...

Meniscal injury in dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture.

Meniscal damage is common in dogs with naturally occurring rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL). Appropriate diagnosis and treatment of meniscal injuries is critical to avoid chronic lameness in these patients. Given the frequency, expense, and clinical importance of meniscal injuries, a thorough understanding of the meniscus is important for general practitioners and veterinary surg...

Biceps femoris muscle transposition for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in small breed dogs

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new extracapsular surgical technique for the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in small breed dogs. Nine small breed dogs (seven females and two males) weighing ≤ 15 kg were treated with biceps femoris muscle transposition (BFT). The duration of the BFT procedure was 20 min. Each patient underwent a standard clinical protocol and a questi...

Feasibility of utilizing the patellar ligament angle for assessing cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs

The patellar ligament angle (PLA) was assessed in 105 normal stifle joints of 79 dogs and 33 stifle joints of 26 dogs with a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL). The PLA of stifles with complete CrCL rupture was significantly lower than that of normal stifles, particularly at a flexion angle of 60 ˜ 80° in both plain and stress views. If the PLA was < 90.55° on the stress view with a 60 ˜...

Radiographic Risk Factors for Contralateral Rupture in Dogs with Unilateral Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture

BACKGROUND Complete cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CR) is a common cause of pelvic limb lameness in dogs. Dogs with unilateral CR often develop contralateral CR over time. Although radiographic signs of contralateral stifle joint osteoarthritis (OA) influence risk of subsequent contralateral CR, this risk has not been studied in detail. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS We conducted a retros...
